More About This Project
True North Sails was a collaborative effort between myself, my colleague Kevin Franke, and our previous employer. We partnered with Massachusetts Maritime Academy to develop a line of products crafted from recycled sailcloth. Sailcloth, more commonly known as “sailboat sail material” is an extremely versatile fabric with numerous applications; perfect for making long-lasting, outdoor-worthy accessories of all kinds.
For this project, I was tasked with designing a logo and visual system for the brand, in addition to product photography, videography and editing. Multiple rounds of revision and consulting with potential consumers led to a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign, and the development of a product and brand that both Kevin and myself could be proud of.
As my first foray into the world of crowdfunding campaign development, the True North project was a huge undertaking that paid dividends for my career experience. Kevin and myself followed through the creative process from start to finish, from researching, to brainstorming, prototyping to testing, surveying to marketing and everything in between. Having full creative control over an entire project has granted me a wealth of knowledge in what creative project management entails, and just how much work goes into creating a successful crowdfunding campaign.
